Aptamers for diagnostics in human and animal health

Aptamers can specifically detect biomarkers (small molecules, proteins, cells) in a diagnostics perspective. The biomarker-aptamer combination can constitute point of care diagnostic tools and consequently improve therapies. Aptamer probes (fluorescent, radio-labelled) can be used for imaging tissues (tumors). Aptamers can also be raised against pathogens (parasites, bacteria, viruses).
